Class I Piezoelectric Sensor

The Class 1 Piezoelectric Sensor consists of a piezoelectric element, encapsulated in an extruded aluminum housing. These sensors are easily installed in a small slot in any (existing or new) asphalt or concrete pavement with epoxy. The sensors are available in a variety of sensor lengths and cable lead lengths. Piezoelectric sensors are used for high-speed WIM (Weigh-In-Motion) and/or vehicle classification applications. Two (2) sensors are used per travel lane for WIM. The piezoelectric sensors can be either encapsulated or un-encapsulated, the latter better capable of conforming to the pavement profile.

Accuracy - ASTM Type II (Gross Vehicle Weight: +/- 15% @ 2s)
Speed of Operation - 30 mph - 100 mph
Cost - Low
